Which Pokemon Go Buddy will give candy the fastest? (Niantic)

Niantic is rolling out the new Pokemon Go buddy update, which will allow trainers to walk a Pokemon as their Buddy. When you’re choosing which Buddy to use first, you might be wondering which ones will give you candy the fastest.

Here’s what you need to know.

Niantic has not officially revealed yet how many kilometers you will need to walk each Pokemon type in order to get candy. Pokemon are rewarded candy at 1 km distance, 3 km, and 5 km. (Some trainers are also reporting 10 km in the mix. You can read more about the distances here.) It’s not known how much candy you will get at each of these distances, though it currently appears to be 1 candy per completed walk.

If the distances we have seen reported so far are accurate, then the following Pokemon will yield you candy the fastest, at only 1 km traveled. They’re listed in alphabetical order.

  • Beedrill
  • Butterfree
  • Caterpie
  • Clefable
  • Clefairy
  • Fearow
  • Geodude
  • Golbat
  • Golem
  • Graveler
  • Gyarados
  • Jigglypuff
  • Kakuna
  • Magikarp
  • Metapod
  • Pidgeot, Pidgeotto, Pidgey
  • Pikachu, Raichu
  • Raticate, Rattata
  • Spearow
  • Weedle
  • Wigglytuff
  • Zubat

Some things about the above list seem odd, such as Gyarados yielding candy after 1 km of walking. But it appears that if a Pokemon yields candy in 1 km, its evolutions will do the same.

We will update this article as we have more information.
