Facebook Launches Video Game Livestreaming Feature

Facebook, you may have heard of it, is taking a shot at Twitch by offering a way to livestream games straight to Facebook through the use of Facebook Live.

The mobile option of going live has been available for mobile users since last year but through the use of desktop or laptop computers, Facebook says it will beneficial to many broadcasts since these options have a stable camera setup.

All you have to do is create a post and click live video. Facebook says if you’re a gamer this new features makes it easier than ever to stream your PC gameplay to friends and followers. The new feature makes gives users the ability to use streaming software or external hardware when going live from a computer. If you’re using streaming software, such as Open Broadcaster Software, Facebook includes a guide on how to get that set up.

With this update, users will be able share their screens, add graphics, switch cameras or use professional equipment in Facebook Live videos. They also have the option to broadcast to groups or events there are part of and pages they manage.

Twitch is currently the juggernaut in video game streaming but it looks like Facebook is aiming to take away a chunk of the market.
