‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’ Amiibo Features


When The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild launches March 3, players will be diving into a world of Zelda they’ve never seen before. Luckily, you won’t be completely alone if you have own a collection of amiibos as they can give you equipment, food and other treasures. One of the amiibos will even spawn a companion to fight alongside you. Nintendo is launching a new lineup of amiibos to coincide with the release of their new game to add to the already impressive line of Zelda amiibos. The amiibos can only be used once per day.

Here is what each amiibo will do in game.


Link (The Legend of Zelda)

This 8-bit version of Link is most recognizable as the Link for the original The Legend of Zelda game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. By using this amiibo, the player will spawn a random number of barrels into the game and breaking these will reward the player with rupees or possibly other treasures. One of these treasures can come in the form of a bundle of fire arrows.


Link (Ocarina of Time)

This adult Link from the N64 hit will reward players with a random amount of meat when he is using in game. This meat can then be eaten for survival purposes. By cooking it, you can eat it and recover health.


Toon Link (The Wind Waker)

This cartoon version of Link first debuted The Wind Waker. By tapping his amiibo into the game, a random amount of fish will appear in front of the player. This fish will then be eaten much like the meat was.


Zelda (The Wind Waker)

Zelda’s amiibo, also in her Wind Waker appearance, will give some items to the player. By using her, you will be rewarded with a gift of plants. The plants can be used as ingredients in various cooking recipes.


Link (Archer)

From the new line of amiibos, this Link features the version of Link, from Breath of the Wild, aiming a bow. By scanning him into the game, you will receive a random amount of fish and meat. There’s also a chance you can get a bow and arrow.


Link (Rider)

(Nintendo)

Another Breath of the Wild version of Link, this one is Link on a horse. Scanning him will give you a random amount of mushrooms. You could also receive a saddle for use on wild horses and melee weapons.


Zelda

Zelda received a makeover for Breath of the Wild and got her own amiibo too. Tapping her into the game with reward you with random variety of plants. You could receive a shield as well.


Bokoblin

Bokoblin, one of the enemies you’ll encounter in Breath of the Wild will give you a bunch of meat when you scan him in. There’s a chance you can get his weapon.


Guardian

(Nintendo)

Guardian, another enemy in the game, will reward the player with metal boxes of items when scanned in. Nintendo’s website says there’s a chance he’ll drop “ancient parts” in those boxes but you’ll have to progress into the game to figure out what those do.


Wolf Link

(Nintendo)

By scanning this Twilight Princess HD collectible, Wolf Link will become your companion and fight alongside you when scanned into the game. If you own a copy of Twilight Princess HD, you can scan him in there and progress through the Cave of Shadows, a new dungeon made exclusively for the HD edition. Wolf Link will enter Breath of the Wild with three hearts by default but if you progress through the Twilight Princess dungeon, he will enter with however many hearts you earn there.


Super Smash Bros Link

Scanning him will give you the proclaimed “Horse of Legend” by Breath of the Wild: Epona. You will also be able to get the Twilight Princess Link outfit.
