The release of the Nintendo Switch has shown us there still is an audience for mobile gaming, given that the Switch was the fastest selling Nintendo console of all time and they are doubling production of it.
Reddit user godelbrot is taking this to another step and has created a portable Steam tablet. Basically what was done is the user took a Windows tablet, the HP Pro Tablet 608 G1 to be specific, and mounted the Switch’s JoyCons to it to create a makeshift Switch that ran Steam games instead of Nintendo games. The CPU in the tablet isn’t the best but it is capable of playing games, as evidenced by this video.
A full list of what you’d need is found here. Keep it mind that this is much more expensive that you might want to spend but if you want Steam games on the go as a Nintendo Switch clone, this is pretty cool. You’ll be able to play games like League of Legends, DOTA 2, The Binding of Isaac and others of the sort no problem but it’ll likely struggle with more demanding games.
It’s amazing what people can discover and come up with.
