Don’t fret if you can’t figure out how to play Heroes of the Storm on your printer’s touch screen.
Heroes of the Storm is currently running an event dubbed Nexus Challenge 2.0 that requires you to play five matches of Heroes of the Storm a week to unlock awards for Heroes and Overwatch. The first week recently wrapped up, which rewarded players the Oni Genji skin for Overwatch players. Week two is underway and Overwatch players will be rewarded with the Officer D.Va skin for completing the five Heroes games this week. We outlined all the rewards you get throughout the event last month.
The 2.0 update has brought two Overwatch characters, D.Va and Genji, to Heroes of the Storm. Genji is now available and D.Va is coming in the near future.
All of this sounds all well and good provided you have a computer to play Heroes of the Storm on. The game isn’t really that demanding but you have to keep in mind that not everyone has a PC that can play this game. Strictly PS4 and Xbox One players are left out in the dark with this event and will miss out on plenty of Overwatch content.
Jeff Kaplan, game director of Overwatch, has addressed the concerns of console players in forum post on the Overwatch forums.
We completely understand that there are some players who do not own or have access to a PC to play Heroes of the Storm. Because of this, we plan to add both the Oni Genji skin and the Officer D.Va skin to the normal, base Overwatch loot box at some point in the future.
With that said, I still encourage anyone with access to a PC to play the Nexus Challenge. Heroes of the Storm is an amazing game and you’ll unlock those skins for free and before anyone else.
This will probably be quite a ways out. The event ends wraps up during the week of May 15 so it’s likely we’ll have to wait until after the event is over until we see these skins in normal loot crates. It’s still good to see Blizzard hasn’t forgotten about their console counterparts. PC players will also benefit from this if they miss out on the Nexus Challenge 2.0 event.
Starting May 1, China was required to start listing the odds of getting epic and legendary quality items in loot crates. We looked at the probabilities of Overwatch along with Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone. Our findings have shown Overwatch hands out legendaries at the most generous rates but is the stingiest when it comes to epic items. These drop rates are only available for China so it’s unclear if the numbers differ in other parts of the world.
Kaplan said earlier this year there are six new maps in development for Overwatch including three coming this year. Overwatch also just ended its Uprising event which was a PvE event featuring Tracer’s first Overwatch mission. You were able to cash in on some cool skins if you got lucky enough with the loot boxes or if you were willing to fork over some cash.
