Dragon Quest XI Surpasses 2 Million Copies Sold in Japan

Water is wet. The sky is blue. Japan loves Dragon Quest.

The latest Media Create sales, as reported by Gematsu, revealed that Dragon Quest XI has already surpassed two million copies sold. The game was released in Japan on July 29. The sales were boosted by releasing across two platforms – the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4. Despite the PS4 version boasting a home console experience and probably better performance across the board, the 3DS version came out with a victory here.

We know that Japan loves its portable gaming which is probably why we saw the Nintendo 3DS version come out ahead here. With the release of Dragon Quest, we also saw a huge jump with PlayStation 4 and New 2DS sales. It also helps that Japan got some themed consoles for the release as well.
