During June’s E3 2017 Horizon Zero Dawn had an expansion announced for it called The Frozen Wilds. We weren’t really given much else to report on but now we have a locked down release date for the first expansion.
Guerrilla Games, Horizon Zero Dawn’s developer, has announced the release date for The Frozen Wilds is November 7. The developer shared a little bit about the expansion but it still doesn’t give us a whole lot to go on. Just expect a bunch of snow.
Back in June, we announced an expansion for Horizon Zero Dawn called The Frozen Wilds. Set in icy territories to the north, this new chapter of Aloy’s journey adds a new area to explore, new mysteries to uncover and new, highly lethal machines to take on
The developer plans on sharing more information about the upcoming expansion as we get closer to the actual launch. If you pre-order the expansion from the PlayStation Store, you will get an exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn avatar.

Horizon Zero Dawn launched earlier this year and was critically acclaimed. If anything, the launch was overshadowed by the Nintendo Switch and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game is a new Sony IP and we’re excited to see where things go from here. Guerrilla Games is previously known for the Killzone series so it’s nice to see them branch out and make a successful RPG.
According to VG Chartz, Horizon Zero Dawn has sold 3.17 million copies worldwide, with most of the sales coming from Europe. As expected with a western RPG, Japan had the lowest sales for the title. However, Sony has said the game has sold at least 3.4 million copies, according to an interview with Glixel. Whatever the case may be, the game has sold well and seems like it will continue to sell well.
