Minott was used sparingly again, continuing what has been a frustrating start to the season. Although he has played in more games than he has missed, Minott typically logs most of his playing time down the stretch when the game is done and dusted. Barring injuries to those around him, his role is unlikely to change moving forward.
Career-best performance Wednesday
Minott ended with 13 points (5-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal over 21 minutes during Wednesday's 108-80 victory over the Clippers. Minott logged more than 20 minutes in an NBA game for the first time in his career, and there's no question the second-year forward made the most of his minutes. He delivered career-high marks in points, rebounds and assists while making a huge impact off the bench. That said, Minott had appeared in just eight games prior to Wednesday's win and averaged only 6.4 minutes per game, so he's not likely to hover around the 20-minute-per-game mark all of a sudden.
Used sparingly in victory
Minott had one point (1-2 FT), one rebound and one block in eight minutes during Monday's 114-93 victory over the Hornets. Minott slid into the rotation for just the second time this season, playing eight minutes of garbage time. He is typically only ever utilized when the scoreline is one-sided. There is no indication that his role is going to change moving forward.
Starting vs. Denver
Minott will start in Thursday's preseason finale against the Nuggets. The Timberwolves are not only resting their starters, but they're also resting their regular reserves for this contest. Minott will have the chance to impress the coaching staff and will start alongside Luka Garza in the frontcourt. Rob Dillingham, Terrence Shannon and P.J. Dozier form the rest of the first unit.

Minott posted 18 points (7-10 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot across 22 minutes in Wednesday's 125=123 preseason loss to the Bulls. One shouldn't read much into Minott's performance. The 2022 second-round pick is trapped in a crowded depth chart that won't give him many opportunities to move up. Although he shows promise and signed a new deal in the offseason, his participation will be limited.
