Another one bites the dust. According to TMZ, Randy Jackson is stepping down as the sole remaining judge on the show. American Idol seems to have lost every virtual judge since the show’s inception in June 2002. Presently, Mariah Carey is the one and only judge slated for season twelve with Ryan Seacrest as the emceee. It looks like the fat lady is about to sing.
The once popular show was the one to watch for years, spawning international successes like Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughtry, Clay Aiken, Fantasia Cook, Jennifer Hudson, and David Archuleta. Jackson who has been a perpetual advocate of the show, staying on when co-hosts, Abdul and Cowell fled, will act as a “mentor” for the contestants.
Rumors have circulated that Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban are in the running for the two remaining spots. Although negotiations are still being finalized, no formal word has yet to be issued if and when Jackson is truly departing once and for all.
