Usain Bolt Wins Gold in 200-meter, Becomes Most Dominant Runner in History

Usain Bolt sailed to a clear victory in the Men’s 200m. This completes back-to-back Olympics where he’s won both the 100m and the 200m. It is the first time such a feat has ever been achieved.

In the history of the Olympics there have been 24 attempts to win back-to-back gold medals in the 200m and none have been successful. In fact, only Carl Lewis has ever won back-to-back gold in the 100m before Bolt accomplished that on Sunday.

Bolt’s self-stated mission is to become a legend and he has probably secured that with this victory. Hr is not the sport’s most dominant athlete in history. In fact, maybe we should stop calling him “The Fastest Man in the World” and start calling him “The Fastest Man of All Time.”

He came in with a final time of 19.32 seconds.

Once again, Yohan Blake played Robin to Bolt’s Batman, taking silver in the 200m. In fact, Jamaica swept the event, finishing 1-2-3 with Warren Weir taking bronze.

Blake was the only one on the course that was even a threat to Bolt and Bolt was able to defeat him even with easing up on the final few meters. (Deadspin has video of the race)

Want to know how easy it was for Bolt? This is how he celebrated victory:

That’s right, he celebrated running 200 meters faster than anyone else in the world by doing some push-ups. You just can’t help but love the guy.
