In 2011 teenager Jessica Rue made headlines after she apparently accidentally hung herself from a noose at the Creepyworld haunted house and hung there for up to ten minutes while visitors walked by and thought her struggling for life was simply part of the show.
The New York Daily News reports that since the incident the now 19 year old girl not only suffered from a three day coma but also is facing various side effects of neurological damage – the extent of which doctors say is uncertain at this time. Because of the trauma and damage both her and her family are now suing both Creepyworld and its parent, Halloween Productions Inc., to cover both medical costs and long-term trauma miss Rue will suffer.
What is a bit difficult to understand in this lawsuit, though, is how exactly Creepyworld is being targeted for negligence due to the fact that Rue apparently “accidentally fell into the noose”. For those of you who are unfamiliar with a noose (or simply ropes hanging loosely with a loop at their base) this is an incredibly difficult feat to accomplish.
With her memory gone nobody may ever know what really happened, but the lawsuit against the companies is still on.
