An NJ Transit commuter train slammed into a tractor-trailer this morning during rush hour, injuring 10 people including a crossing guard.
A spokesman told NBC New York that the train, running on the Montclair-Boonton line, struck the trailer around 8:30 a.m. near Main and Dewey Streets in Little Falls, New Jersey.
The big rig, hauling paint, was apparently backing across the tracks after missing a turn. As seen in photos (above and below), the crash crumpled the trailer and sent yellow, 5-gallon paint buckets flying.
There were 71 passengers and crew aboard. Serious injuries were suffered by a crew member and a crossing guard who was struck by debris.
