A towering construction crane collapsed this afternoon at 46th Avenue and Center Boulevard in Long Island City, Queens — directly behind the iconic Pepsi-Cola sign on the East River — injuring at least seven people.
CBS reports that three of the injuries are “serious”:

Local news TV station NY1 cut into Governor’s Cuomo’s state-of-the-state address with a breaking-news update about the collapse.
There were early reports of construction workers “trapped” in the debris, but all workers have been accounted for.
Fire and rescue. I saw someone in the rubble just seconds after the collapse. I hope he’s ok! #lic #cranecollapse twitter.com/UnSweetTee/sta…
