Disneyland Explosion Prompts Evacuation, No Injures Reported

Parents at Disneyland got a bit of a scare on Tuesday evening after an explosion in Toontown prompted an evacuation of the area of the park in Anaheim, California, reports The Los Angeles Times.

Toontown was closed down from 5:30 p.m. local time and didn’t reopen until two hours later. An investigation revealed that the source of the explosion came from a plastic bottle filled with dry ice that was dropped into a trash can. Police reported that the blast was confined to the can and that there were no apparent injuries.

Witnesses said that the explosion sounded like a gunshot and that the music never stopped playing as authorities inspected the scene.

Sgt. Bob Dunn of the Anaheim Police Department said that a motive has not been established, but that the dry ice bomb appeared to be similar to other devices that have exploded in Anaheim neighborhoods in recent months.

“Unfortunately, it’s an all too-common experience,” Dunn told The Times.

Disney officials have yet to make a statement.
