A 5-year-old at Westside Elementary in Frayser, Tennessee, a neighborhood in Memphis, fired a handgun this morning in the cafeteria, WMC-TV reports.
The incident occurred just after 8 a.m.
The child’s father reportedly works at the school.
There are no injuries.
Fox 13, which is referring to the child as a “he,” reports the gun was brought to school in the child’s backpack and that the child was detained in the principal’s office:

Earlier this month, a 5-year-old claimed she was abducted from the same school by a woman who “stuck a needle” in her hand, reports WMC-TV.
According to the school district’s website, Westside’s enrollment is 423 students, taught by 26 teachers.
