A shooting at the Tri-County Mental Health Center in Chesterfield, South Carolina has left one person dead, reports WSOC TV.

Here’s what you need to know:


1. A Patient is Dead

The victim was a patient at the hospital, reports WBTV. The station further reports that nobody else was hurt in the shooting.


2. Reports Suggest a Cop Shot the Patient

South Carolina-based reporter, Greg Suskin, says his information tells him that a cop from the probation, pardon and parole opened fire on the victim.


3. The Hospital is Right on the Border

The facility is located close to the North Carolina border, about 80 miles north of Columbia, South Carolina. The fatal shooting was confirmed by the Chesterfield County coroner who is in the process of notifying the victim’s family. Police and deputies are surrounding the hospital.


4. The Shooting Happened Around 1 P.M.

Police responded to the call about possible shots fired at the facility just after 1 p.m. EST.

According to the facility’s website:
