David Luiz, the Chelsea defender is on the verge of sealing a move to Paris St. Germain in a $67 million deal, reports the BBC.
Here’s what you need to know:
1. The Move Looks Imminent
Luiz is said to be in Paris undergoing a physical prior to the move. The Guardian reports that all sides want to have the deal completed before the start of the World Cup on June 12.
David Luiz undergoing medical with PSG. Conflicting claims regarding the fee (£40m? More?). Whatever it is, it's great business for Chelsea.

2. He Has 3 Years Left on His Chelsea Deal
Luiz last signed a contract with Chelsea back in September 2012. That deal was for five years. He joined the team in January 2011. At the time, Luiz said:
It’s a great club and I look forward to winning more trophies here. I want to play for a long time at the top level – which is what playing for Chelsea means. I love everything about the club and especially the fans, who have made me very welcome and given me great support.
3. Barcelona Will be Disappointed
He has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge since Jose Mourinho took over the team again last summer. Barcelona were said to be the favorites to get him.
4. Chelsea May Have Signed Diego Costa Too
Due to new financial fair play laws, Chelsea will not be allowed to spend big money on players without recouping some losses. Chelsea are thought to have already secured the signing of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid.
5. This is World Record Fee for a Defender
The reported transfer will be the largest ever for a defender. Even though Luiz sometimes deputizes in midfield. Not to mention the fact that his defending comes under a lot of criticism. Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville famously said that Luiz played as if he were “controlled by a 10-year-old on a Playstation.”
