23-year-old Marshall Henderson has become a Twitter trend after he complained about the coverage of Michael Sam kissing his boyfriend Vito Cammisano on Sportscenter.
Here’s what you need to know:


1. He Claimed He Was Boycotting Sportscenter

Henderson said on Twitter that he would be boycotting Sportscenter “til this michael same nasty ass shit is off.” He then complained that his brothers, ages 7 and 11, were watching ESPN when it showed Sam kissing Cammisano after being drafted by the Rams.


2. Henderson Says the Tweet Was Part of an Experiment

He’s now saying that the purpose of the rant was for a psychology experiment for an openly gay friend of his.


3. He’s Never Spent More Than a Season at a College Team


Henderson is a native of Fort Worth, Texas. He went to college in Hurst. In his senior year at L.D. Bell High School,Marsh Henderson was all-county and district MVP. For the high class of 2009. Henderson was ranked as the 57th best shooting guard in the country. After turning down scholarship offers from Notre Dame and Stanford, Henderson decided to play ball for the Utah Utes.


He spent only one season in Utah, despite playing in 30 of 31 games and an average of 11.8 points. In sophomore season, Henderson decided to take his talents to Texas Tech. But that didn’t last very long. Tech fired coach Pat Knight just as Henderson arrived so he was on the move again. This time he went to South Plains Junior College. With Henderson in the team, South Plains went 36-0, winning the NJCASS national championship. Henderson was named NJCAA Player of the Year. In his junior year, Henderson went on to play for Ole Miss, where he remains. In the 2013/14 season, he averaged 20+ plus points per game. He was just voted SEC Newcomer of the Year. At South Plains, he was a Human Sciences major.


4. Henderson Was Convicted of Trying to Buy Drugs With Fake Money

He’s had run-ins with the law. Just after graduating high school, Henderson was arrested for buying weed with counterfeit money. Henderson was put on probation but failed a drug test during this time. He tested positive for cocaine and weed. Later, Henderson was also found guilty of failing to perform his community service and did 25 days in Tarrant County Jail in Texas. He missed his first three games for Ole Miss after he was suspended for possession of cocaine and weed.


5. He’s Vowing to Clean Up His Act

Henderson has said previously that he feeds of the negative reaction his play usually gets. He’s often seen trash talking on the court. After Ole Miss were knocked out of March Madness, Henderson wrote an open letter to Ole Miss fans to say that he would be remaining in Oxford and that he would clean up his act.
