Police in Baltimore are reporting Saturday afternoon that four individuals have been shot. Here’s what you need to know:


1. Police Reported That Four People Were Shot

Detective Howard of the Baltimore Police Department confirmed that police were called to the scene at for a report of shots fired shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Upon investigation, officers found four people who had been shot, on Wellburn, around the corner.


2. The Incident Occurred in Northeast Baltimore

The Northeast of Baltimore is commonly considered one of the more dangerous parts of the city. According to an AOL report, 40 percent of the homicides that occurred in the city in 2009 occurred in the Northeast district.

Officer Howard told Heavy that the incident had occurred outside, in broad daylight.


3. Homicide Detectives Are Investigating

Calling it a “pretty large crime scene,” Howard said detectives were currently at the location of the shooting:

“It’s very early in the investigation.”


4. One Person is Dead

Howard confirmed that one person died at the scene, with three people injured and transferred to area hospitals.

The condition of the injured parties was not immediately known.


5. No Suspect Has Yet Been Identified

Howard said the investigation was ongoing but that police had not yet identified a suspect.
