It was a bit of a round-about answer, but Jeb Bush says he agrees with Mike Huckabee when it comes to Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who made headlines after she refused to grant marriage licenses to gay couples.

Bush had previously discussed his support of local government being able to make its own decision on gay marriage. The former Florida governor said he hoped to find some sort of “common ground” on both sides of the issue, allowing Davis to follow her own beliefs while still upholding the law. Bush told supporters at a New Hampshire rally earlier this week “…there ought to be big enough space for her to act on her conscience and for, now that the law is the law of the land, for a gay couple to be married in whatever jurisdiction that is”
