In a press conference this morning, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump weighed in on whether Harambe the gorilla should have been shot.

Trump said that the decision to shoot Harambe was a tough call but that it was ultimately the right decision.

“There were moments when it looked pretty dangerous. I don’t think they had a choice. Probably they didn’t have a choice. You have a young child at stake…it’s too bad there wasn’t another way.”

He did note, though, that parts of the video looked beautiful and calm as Harambe held the child like a mother holding a baby. However, Trump went on to say that it only takes one second for the gorilla to make a sudden and fatal movement, and so ultimately he got behind the zoo’s decision.
