California Election Ballot 2016: Candidates for Each Office

California voters go to the polls on Tuesday to cast their ballots in races for the state’s U.S. Senate seats, its U.S. House seats, and its state House and Senate seats.

Six parties have lines on the ballot in California: the Democratic Party, the Republican Party, the Libertarian Party, the Green Party, the Peace and Freedom Party, and the Independent Party. There’s also a ballot line for write-in candidates. You can find a sample ballot for your town by providing your address at this Ballotpedia page.

Here’s a list of your candidate options for each race:

State Legislative Races

Democrats have a government trifecta in the state of California, with majorities in both the state House of Representatives and Senate, along with holding the governorship. In the state Senate Democrats hold 26 of the 40 seats, with 20 of 40 seats up for election. In the state House of Representatives all seats are up for election, with Democrats currently holding 52 of 80. Edmund G (Jerry) Brown Jr has served as Governor of California since 2011 and the next gubernatorial election will take place in 2018.
