Oakland Fire: How to Help Victims’ Families

Thank the Emergency Response Teams

Emergency response and city officials have been working round-the-clock since the fire. These include the Oakland Fire Department, Alameda County Sheriff's Department, Oakland Police Department, Alameda County Search and Rescue, local Red Cross, Cal OSHA, and more. Recovery personnel especially were devastated by the scene and needed counseling so they could continue their work. Sending a message of thanks, whether by tweet, email, or a written card, would be greatly appreciated. You can also make donations to the Oakland Firefighters' Random Acts of Kindness group. (Getty)
