Martyn Hett: A Beautiful Soul
Martyn Hett, 29, from Stockport was one of the victims who died in the Manchester attack, BBC reported. Hett graduated in 2005 from Priestnall High School in Heaton Mersey. One friend said he was iconic and beautiful, adding: "He left this world exactly how he lived, centre of attention." Hett had a tattoo shaped like Coronation Street character Deirdre Barlow and he was known as a "super fan." One of the actresses from the show, Jennie McAlpine, said of Hett: "He was an extremely fun-loving, unique person... he was a delight... (a) beautiful soul."
Hett was also featured by Buzzfeed in 2016. His mother was in a craft fair and was sad because no one was buying her stuff. He shared a photo of her booth on Twitter and wrote, "My heart is breaking." A friend saw his tweet and bought a knitted glove monster from her online. Hett thanked his friend: "My heart is melting. Thank you @LiamLambrini for being her first customer." Hett's friend shared his purchase on Twitter and and she sold three more items from her online shop. His mom later wrote him, "Martyn I've sold 9 items in the past hour. I was ready to give up knitting altogether but this has made my week!! Thank you my darling, you've made your mother very happy." Word continued to spread and her store went viral and everything she was selling was bought. She donated her earnings to a local charity, Beacon Counselling.
Hett was an amazing young man. He had his own website (here) where he focused on making silly videos and writing "about strong women and low culture." He was already making a name for himself and had his entire life ahead of him before it was tragically cut short. (Instagram)
