Virginia was certainly tested, but in the end, the second-seeded Cavaliers pass.

No. 15 Belmont cut a big lead and trailed by 4 with 3 minutes left before the Cavs pulled away for a 79-67 win Friday.

Malcolm Brogdon scored 22 points, Anthony Gill had 16 and Justin Anderson added 15 as Virginia advanced to play No. 7 seed Michigan State on Sunday with a spot in the Sweet 16 on the line.

Craig Bradshaw of Belmont led all scorers with 25 points.
