The 141st running of the Kentucky Derby is just over a month away on Saturday, May 2nd 2015 — the Derby’s sister race, the Kentucky Oaks is scheduled for Friday, May 1st.
The Road to the Kentucky Derby — a 35-race schedule including 16 championship races — begins in September, and a list of contenders has already been set. As of now, International Star is leading the pack in points during this stretch with 171 points, although American Pharoah, currently in 8th place with 60 points, is still the future betting favorite ahead of the big race.
