Jordan Spieth didn’t look like a 21-year-old out there.
Spieth had 9 birdies, including 6 in a 7 hole stretch, and shot a 8-under 64 to take a comfortable 3-stroke lead after the first round of the Masters on Thursday. It was one stroke off the Augusta National course record set by Nick Price (63 in 1986) and Greg Norman (63 in 1996).
Spieth ended his round on high note, hitting his 9th birdie to go into the clubhouse with a comfortable lead heading into Friday’s second round.
Spieth, who finished T2 in his Masters debut in 2014, had just one bogey (Hole 15) and birdied 8, 9, 10, 12, 13 and 14 during one stretch.
He tees off the second round at 9:57 a.m. Eastern with Henrik Stenson and Billy Horschel.
A group of four – Ernie Els, Charley Hoffman, Jason Day and Justin Rose – were 3 strokes back at 5-under (67).

First Round Highlights & Video
Tiger Woods Watch
In his first tournament back since his self-imposed leave of absence back in early February, Tiger Woods had an up-and-down day.
We saw some not-so-pretty shots, but then some how-did-he-do-that moments to get out of trouble, like the one below.
When it was all said and done, Woods finished at 1-over 73.
But it’s good to have Woods back on the course, especially at Augusta.
He tees off Friday at 10:30 a.m. with Jamie Donaldson and Jimmy Walker.
