Controversy. Season-ending injuries. Insults hurled. It’s time to get back to baseball.
The Los Angeles Dodgers head to New York as the Mets host Game 3 of the NLDS on Monday. The game will be broadcast on TBS at a time that is yet to be announced. Here’s the most important facts:
Time: 8:30 p.m. ET
Channel: TBS
Where: Citi Field, Queens
The series, which has garnered non-stop attention after Chase Utley’s slide (or tackle, depending on who you ask) heard ’round the world. The Dodgers second baseman took out Ruben Tejada late in Game 2, trying to break up a double play and, ultimately, breaking the New York short stop’s leg instead. For those so inclined, you can watch the play here. But be warned, it’s pretty heinous:
Utley was subsequently suspended for the move and he will miss Game 3 and 4 of the NLDS. He has yet to announce if he plans to appeal the move but, as of now, LA will be a man short.
Matt Harvey is slated to get the start for the Mets in Game 3 and the ace was vague on his plans for any kind of baseball-related retribution on Monday. “As far as sticking up for your teammates, I think being out there and doing what’s right is exactly what I’m going to do,” he said on Sunday afternoon.
Harvey has already intentionally hit Utley earlier this season. Brett Anderson is scheduled to get the start for LA.
