The Baltimore Ravens might just be the best worst team in all of the NFL. The San Diego Chargers, on the other hand, are at the bottom of the division and in desperate need of a run game.
In other words, this Sunday is a must-win situation for both sides.
Despite the worst start in franchise history, the one-win Ravens are a 3-point favorites at home on Sunday afternoon at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Baltimore has been heartbreak city this season with each game decided by a touchdown or less. Joe Flacco, meanwhile, has been able to keep the Ravens injury-plagued offense moving and is coming off a 65 percent completion performance last week.
Of course, that hasn’t done much to notch victories – or inspire any kind of odds-based confidence in the Ravens. Baltimore is 1-5 ATS through six games and 1-7 SU in its last eight games. Most telling, though, is that the Ravens are 0-5 ATS in their last five games at home.
On the other end of the spectrum, San Diego is 4-6 overall, 5-5 ATS and 7-2-1 over/under in its last 10 November road games according to OddsShark’s NFL Database. This season, the Chargers 1-5 ATS in their last six games and 1-5 SU in that same stretch.
The Chargers road to success this season rests almost entirely on Philip Rivers arm and how long it can hold up. San Diego’s run game has been woefully bad this fall and the pressure to move the ball has landed almost entirely on Rivers. The 33-year-old QB has thrown for 2,452 yards with 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He’s coming off a three-touchdown, 336 yard performance against the Oakland Raiders last week and has yet to throw fewer than 240 yards this year.
The total for Sunday afternoon’s San Diego vs. Baltimiore betting matchup is set at 50.5 points at the sportsbooks. The total has gone UNDER in four of San Diego’s last six games and has gone OVER in four of Baltimiore’s last six games.
The OddsShark Computer is projecting a 22.8 -27 Baltimore victory.
