Can the New York Giants play spoiler to the Patriots perfect season?

Hey, if history can repeat itself, Big Blue could do just that on Sunday afternoon. But, the odds don’t necessarily favor the upset. New England comes into the Week 10 tilt a 7-point favorites on the road, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.

Of course, there’s plenty of reason for New England to be confident. The Patriots, obviously, haven’t lost yet this season and Tom Brady has been playing at a whole other level. Brady ranks third in the league in passing, averaging an almost ridiculous 338.6 yards per game. He’s also only thrown two interceptions.

The line is a bit of a metaphorical slap in the face for the Giants, fresh off a 31-18 victory over Tampa Bay. The only time New York was a bigger home underdog was in 1998. That season, according to OddsShark, the G-men went 0-3 SU and 2-1 ATS in those games.

Still, the odds favor the Patriots when it comes to betting. New York has been consistently inconsistent and New England has been the picture of success. In their last five games, the Patriots are 5-0 SU and 5-1-1 ATS in the last seven games.

But what about the history between these two teams? Both sides have said there’s no rivalry here – they don’t even play in the same division – but there is certainly history and that could add a whole new level to the betting approach today.

The Giants are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against New England. That includes Super Bowls, naturally, but the success can’t be denied.

The total for the Sunday afternoon matcup is set at 54 points according to the sportsbooks. The total has gone UNDER in five of New England’s last six games against the Giants. Meanwhile, the total has gone OVER in four of New York’s last five games at home.

The OddsShark computer is predicting a 27.9 – 19.9 New England Patriots victory.
