Liverpool could be hitting their offensive form at the right moment, as they head to Germany to face Augsburg in Europa League action. This is the first-ever trip to Europa League for Augsburg, but Liverpool is trying to avoid getting bounced in the Round of 32 for the third consecutive season.
Liverpool supporters would be more worried had the side not thrashed Aston Villa 6-0 over the weekend. The trio of Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Phillippe Coutinho were all healthy and playing together, a rare sight at Anfield this season.
Augsburg qualified for Europa League after finishing fifth in the Bundesliga last season, but they haven’t had the same domestic success this year. They’ve earned 21 points through 21 matches, good for 14th place in Germany’s top division.
This will be Liverpool’s first meeting with Augsburg, but their manager is familiar with the club. Augsburg defeated Klopp’s Dortmund side in their most recent meeting one year ago, with Augsburg dangerman Raul Bobadilla scoring the game’s only goal.
