Tiger Woods is in Maryland this weekend for the PGA Tour’s Quicken Loans National.
OK, let me clarify.
Woods won’t be playing the Congressional Country Club Blue Course in Bethesda. The world’s former No. 1 player is actually the host of the event, which is in its 10th year. Woods has played in the past, though. In fact, he’s won twice — both times at Congressional.
Rickie Fowler at No. 6 is the highest-ranked pro in the field, one which also features Patrick Reed, Justin Thomas, Charley Hoffman and Bill Haas.
Fowler took second in last year’s event, finishing three shots behind winner Troy Merritt. Merritt took home $1.206 million of the $6.7 total purse.
Those numbers are slightly up in 2016. The total prize money will be $6.9 million with the winning share up to $1.242M.
