No. 246 WR Bug Howard, North Carolina
Round: 7th
Players on the Board: QB Seth Russell, QB Antonio Pipkin
Why It Works: This is the point of the draft that teams are looking for two things. Front offices want to grab players they are in danger of losing in the bidding war for undrafted free agents. Teams will also take chances on a player's upside in hopes he can make the team. Howard had a solid 827 yards and eight touchdowns. Give me a 6'4" receiver with a 37.5-inch vertical at this spot in the draft all day long. Howard isn't a receiver that creates a lot of separation but has such a big catch radius that it can make up for his lack of speed. Wide receiver is one of the positions the Cowboys could use to add another piece or two but might opt to go with defense early. Fans could see Dallas take a chance on some offensive players in the later rounds after they have filled some of the defensive voids. (Getty)
