For the first time since its debut in 2003, the Wells Fargo Championship will have a new setting, as Eagle Point Golf Club will step in for Quail Hollow, which is set to host this year's PGA Championship.
So, what do we know about the new track? It's set near the coast in Wilmington, North Carolina, so wind could play a factor. It's a Par 72 that checks in at 7,396 yards, which isn't nearly as long as Quail Hollow, but still will require golfers to be good off the tee. It's a Tom Fazio design, and it's drawing sparkling reviews from both pundits and players, who have even gone as far as to compare it to Augusta.
In terms of DFS, things can get a little tricky because there's no course history. As such, we'll be looking a lot more at statistics--most notably strokes gained tee to green, which is often a good predictor of success at any course.
Another big storyline this week is the return of Dustin Johnson, and his presence is going to make for some very interesting DFS strategic decisions. The world No. 1 and winner of his last three tournaments, DJ is obviously the favorite here and would be expected to run away with this thing if he was at 100 percent. That said, after he missed a month with a back injury, no one really knows if he's at 100 percent, and when you add in his steep price ($13,000), he suddenly makes for the ultimate high-risk, high-reward option.
