Showtime executive vice president Stephen Espinoza has hinted that multiple press conference events have been planned for the upcoming Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight, according to Metro.
“I think there’d be a big miss as purely a fan to not see the two of them interacting repeatedly,” Espinoza said on MMA Fighting. “Mayweather did it. I think he ended up in 10 cities in 11 days for the Canelo fight, I don’t think it’ll be something like that but I do think this is going to be the kind of thing where people are going to want to touch it and feel it and see it and see these guys interact. So I don think maybe late June maybe early July there’ll be multiple cities, not a huge tour but more than a couple and I think it’ll be something that will be really entertaining to watch.”
According to MMA Fighting, Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe has also mentioned a possible world tour featuring the two prolific fighters. UFC President Dana White has said that arrangements are being made that will put Mayweather and McGregor in the same room in the very near future, according to Fox Sports.
Luke Thomas, host of “The Luke Thomas Show” and journalist at MMA Fighting, recently tweeted that Mayweather’s uncle, Jeff Mayweather, told him that the press tour is likely to go to McGregor’s home country of Ireland.
The Mayweather vs. McGregor Fight is scheduled to take place August 26 at the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas, NV. The bout will take place at 154-pounds with 10-ounce gloves. The fight is scheduled for 12 3-minute rounds. The event will be on Showtime pay-per-view, organised by Showtime Sports. The price has not been decided yet, but it is expected to be near the $99.95 charged for Mayweather’s 2015 fight against Manny Pacquiao.
An unofficial promo video for the fight was released on Wednesday:
