The New England Patriots need to trim their roster down to 53 by 4 p.m. on Saturday. And on Friday morning, moves were already being made by Bill Belichick and his staff.
Here are all the Patriots’ roster moves for final cuts of the preseason.

Demaryius Thomas
This was the real shocker. New England cut the five-time Pro Bowler with the intent of resigning him, even after he was thoroughly impressive in his debut.
Keion Crossen
The corner had an impressive preseason but was traded to Houston to make room for Gunner Olszewski.
Brian Hoyer
This is the biggest shock of the day. The Patriots are putting their faith in rookie Jarrett Stidham should anything happen to Tom Brady. Hoyer didn’t appear in either of the last two preseason games.
Nick Brossette
After leading the NFL in preseason rushing, Brossette was cut loose by the Patriots who already have a loaded backfield.
Cole Croston
The offensive tackle was released, resigned, and has been waived once again.
Jakob Johnson
The international pool player never really had a strong chance of making the roster but should be added as an extra man on the practice squad.
Ken Webster
The seventh-round pick struggled to get healthy this preseason before ultimately being released.
Trent Harris
He got some valuable reps when Derek Rivers and Shilique Calhoun went down injured but never made a big enough splash.
Terez Hall
An undrafted rookie out of Missouri, he struggled in pass coverage and was a longshot to make the roster.
Scooby Wright
Acquired late in camp, he looked good in his only preseason game action recording two sacks. Look for him to stick around if he’s unclaimed.
Nick Thurman
Buried on the depth chart, Thurman was a long shot though he did show some encouragement in stopping the run.
Dan Skipper
After starting camp as the potential first choice at left tackle, his stock faded fast as his pass protection worsened.
Calvin Munson
This was a tough decision. He led the team in tackles through preseason and was the defensive signal-caller against the Giants. With Brandon King hurt he was thought of as a potential replacement on special teams but now he’ll likely be practice-squad bound if unclaimed.
Eric Saubert
Welp, so much for that trade. Saubert’s acquisition came with Matt LaCosse sidelined, but now that’s he’s healthy there’s no room for Saubert.
Braxton Berrios
The second-year receiver out of Miami lost his rookie year to injury and was unable to impress enough to make the roster this season despite early optimism. He’ll land somewhere, and it could be on the practice squad.
Stephen Anderson
The tight end struggled with injuries and was slightly undersized for the position. He’s a prime candidate for the practice squad.
Ufomba Kamalu
The defensive tackle showed great versatility in the preseason lining up at linebacker and defensive end. He was right on the bubble.
Duke Dawson
The corner back was selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft but never saw the field for New England. He escaped the chopping block by way of a trade to Denver.

Andrew Beck
New England released FB/TE Andrew Beck on Friday. He was the highest-paid undrafted free agent for New England this season but his preseason optimism quickly faded.
Tyree St. Louis
Another undrafted rookie on the offensive line, St. Louis looked like he might have had a chance to shine through the competition but ultimately fizzled out.
Cedrick Lang
The rookie offensive tackle was near the bottom of the Patriots depth chart and the move for Korey Cunningham sealed his already-known fate.
David Parry
A veteran and journeyman on the defensive line, he made some nice plays through preseason stopping the run but had too much talent in front of him on the depth chart. Good news, he is practice squad eligible if the Patriots want to hold onto him.
Ryan Davis
No surprise here. The rookie out of Auburn was the last receiver on the depth chart but did show some potential on special teams. Given his relationship with Jarrett Stidham, wouldn’t be a bad practice squad guy.
A.J. Howard
The safety looked good on special teams but had a slim chance to make the roster after the emergence of Terrence Brooks.
Tyler Gauthier
The undrafted free agent out of Miami was a longshot but potential crept in late when David Andrews went down. That potential was quickly thwarted upon trading for Russell Bodine.
Christian Sam
This is a sad one. Sam showed flashes of potential last preseason but ultimately missed his entire rookie year to injury. He just couldn’t replicated that success this year.
Martez Ivey
Signed right as training camp began, Ivey lasted throughout preseason but never really materialized into an NFL lineman.
Damoun Patterson
The wide receiver made a nice play as a gunner on special teams against the Giants and caught a game-winning touchdown against the Titans. There’s just too much depth at this position right now but there’s always practice squad.
