Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill played just two snaps before he limped off the field grabbing his right hamstring during the team’s highly-anticipated Monday night showdown against the Los Angeles Chargers in Mexico City.
Per the Chiefs’ official Twitter account, Hill is questionable to return after walking off into the locker room with Kansas City’s medical team. Prior to exiting the game, he was seen getting massaged on the sideline by a trainer.
Unfortunately, this is not the first injury spell for Hill this season. In the first game of the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the three-time Pro Bowler suffered a sternoclavicular joint injury and was given a four to six week timeline for return. He missed Week 2 against the Oakland Raiders and fans were optimistic about his return based on multiple reports.
Hill eventually returned midway through the season and picked up right where he left off. The 25-year-old posted some of his best numbers in the Chiefs’ 35-32 loss against the Tennessee Titans, recording a career-high 11 receptions for 157 yards and one touchdown.
Damien Williams Also Exits “Monday Night Football” Match
The reunited Chiefs offense was great while it lasted. Damien Williams, who has proven his worth as the starting running back as of late, did not return to the game after picking up a rib injury.
Williams collided with linebacker Thomas Davis. After being tackled to the ground of Estadio Azteca, he remained on the ground clutching his body in pain. It certainly wasn’t an ideal situation, but thankfully he was able to walk off the field on his own and without the assistance of a stretcher.
Injuries Continue to Torment the Chiefs
Just before the matchup, Kansas City announced that defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah’s season was over after undergoing surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle. The return of left tackle and Eric Fisher and right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif after weeks away was extremely promising for a team anxious to return to winning ways. Kansas City, who could still run away with the AFC West title for the third year in a row, are on the verge of losing out to the Oakland Raiders.
Jon Gruden’s men had a convincing win against the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday, and meet the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in two weeks on December 1. The division title could very well be decided by then, and it’s safe to say both teams will be playing for a serious shot at the Lombardi Trophy.
