The highly anticipated Super Bowl LV matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers has given way to an even larger storyline in the quarterback matchup between the 43-year-old Tom Brady — the “GOAT” — and 25-year-old Patrick Mahomes — the newly acclaimed “Baby GOAT.”

GOAT, an acronym for “the greatest of all time,” is viewed as one of the highest compliments an athlete can receive.

However, not everyone is throwing their support behind the Mahomes movement ahead of the big game. Among the detractors are the significant others of two of the Chiefs’ biggest stars: Travis Kelce’s girlfriend Kayla Nicole and Mahomes fiancée Brittany Matthews.

Nicole wasn’t done clapping back either.

In other places this week, Mahomes is also being dubbed “The Kid.”

Matthews and Nicole are close friends and the two — along with a group including Mahomes’ brother Jackson — traveled together to Tampa on Sunday, which the latter documented on her Instagram account.

Chiefs Stars Turn Heads in Super Bowl Outfits

While the Buccaneers will be the first team to host a Super Bowl in their home stadium, the Chiefs benefited from a virtual media week that allowed them to remain in Kansas City since the AFC Championship game. Prior to boarding two team planes for Tampa on Saturday afternoon, Chiefs players flaunted their Super Bowl Sunday best.

While Kansas City was dealing with snow showers on Saturday, temperatures are expected to remain in the 60s with clear skies at Raymond James Stadium at kickoff. With a win, the Chiefs would become the first team since Brady’s 2003-04 New England Patriots to win consecutive Super Bowls.

Mahomes & Kelce Supporting Teammate’s Charitable Giveaway

Throughout the week, Chiefs fullback Anthony Sherman has gained a ton of traction for his current charitable endeavor, which began as a revenge prank executed by a group of friends and current teammates.

On Tuesday, Sherman revealed how a prank involving 12,000 Oreo cookies led to him raffling off his personal 2017 King Ranch F250 truck to aid the fight against human trafficking.

“It really started with Oreo cookies,” Sherman said on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday. “About maybe a month ago, I took cookies down to Fort Scott, Kansas, and dumped about 12,000 Oreo cookies into [former Major League Baseball player] Adam LaRoche’s [Ford] Raptor, in through the sunroof. … Opened each package then dumped them into the sunroof.”

In retaliation, LaRoche, along with the help of Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt and long snapper James Winchester, executed the perfect Twitter hack to set the wheels in motion.

“James Winchester, hanging out at Sherm’s house, acted like his phone died so he needed Sherm’s phone,” Colquitt told host Pat McAfee. “Sherm threw the phone. It was not on so he said, ‘Sherm, I need to call her back, give me the code.’ He spit it out and boom.”

To make the story even better, Mahomes, Kelce and Tyrann Mathieu have all offered signed jerseys for anyone who donates at least $2,500 to LaRoche’s E3 Ranch Foundation, which provides support for the U.S. military, the fight against human trafficking, and food insecure individuals and family in and around Kansas.

Upon hearing of the movement, Oreo has also pledged a $12,000 donation to the foundation — one dollar for each cookie Sherman originally dumped into his friend’s truck.
