Newton discussed the situation and a little more after the game.
Newton seemed to still be a bit upset during the post-game press conference. It took a few minutes before he flashed the signature smile, and there were also some questions about a potential hamstring injury.
After loosening up a bit, Newton spoke pretty freely about his successful debut with the Patriots.
Everything Cam Newton Had to Say About the Situation
The video below shows members of the Dolphins trying to snatch off his chain.
Despite the confusion, Newton and the Patriots got the definitive last word with the 21-11 victory. New England was the more physical team, and much of that included Newton plowing through defenders on a couple of runs for crucial first-down plays. He also had two touchdown runs to account for two-thirds of the Patriots’ points.
While he didn’t have a prolific passing performance, Newton did show Patriots fans there are multiple ways to play winning football from the quarterback position. While many watched a 43-year-old Tom Brady struggle in a loss in his first game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including another pick-six, Newton and the Patriots looked dominant in a different way.
Patriots fans are hoping to see this continue throughout 2020.
