Cam Newton brought out the wit and memory as he took a shot at a member of the Miami Dolphins whom he got into a dust-up with after the New England Patriots‘ Week 1 win.

Cam Newton Says Dolphins Defender “Known For Doing Splits”

Newton found himself in something of a scuffle with several members of the Dolphins after the game, and apparently, one of the chief participants on Miami’s side was defensive lineman Christian Wilkins.

Newton pays some attention to social media, and he remembered a clown-ish moment from Wilkins’ recent past where he did a complete split doing a dance routine following his Clemson Tigers’ national championship celebration.

That clip explains why Newton said, you have to understand who you’re talking to, he’s a person known for doing splits.

Cam Newton Victimized the Dolphins on Sunday

Perhaps Wilkins and other Dolphins were frustrated because they had an issue containing Newton and the Patriots’ methodical offense on Sunday. There weren’t tons of throws, but Newton led a diverse rushing attack that saw New England tally 217 rushing yards on 42 carries. Newton had 17 of those rushes and 75 yards including two touchdowns on the ground.

Sony Michel, who looked great, had the other score on a short TD scamper. To put it plainly, the Patriots punched the Dolphins in the mouth and the latter was unable to fire back.

If Newton can continue to lead the charge in this way, chances are the Dolphins won’t be the last team he faces this year that becomes a little feisty with him. The challenge for Newton moving forward is probably going to be to keep his cool if someone is trying to take a normal on-field competitive situation to the next level.
