Back in early August, the San Fransisco 49ers waived defensive back D.J. Reed with a non-football injury designation. He wasn’t on the waivers for long as the Seattle Seahawks picked him up just a day later.
On Sunday afternoon, the Seahawks welcomed the 49ers to their Seattle turf where Reed got his revenge on Kyle Shanahan and the Niners franchise by interception Jimmy Garoppolo in the first quarter.

It’s a coincidence that this game happened to be his first of the season after tearing his pectoral muscle in the offseason.
The former fifth-round pick of the 49ers in 2018 accumulated made 54 tackles to go along with a pair of pass deflections and forced fumbles. He saw action in 31 games for San Francisco.
Jimmy G. Taken Out of Game
Jimmy G. was removed from the game against Seattle as he was seen limping to the locker room in the fourth quarter.
Backup Nick Mullens went in at quarterback for San Francisco and Jimmy G. was seen sidelined wearing a beanie.
He finished the day early completely 11 of 16 passes for just 84 yards and threw one interception to Reed.
George Kittle Limps to Locker Room
Injuries have plagued the 49ers all season and they continued to mount in Sunday’s game.
Just shortly after quarterback Jimmy G. went to the locker room in the fourth quarter, tight end George Kittle limped his way on the same trip. Both players reportedly have ankle injuries and they both didn’t return.
Kittle was injured while making a 25-yard catch on a throw from Garoppolo’s replacement Nick Mullens. He had two catches for 39 yards before he headed to the locker room.
The Niners also saw their star linebacker Fred Warner shaken up during the second half.
Tevin Coleman Gets Hurt Again
One day after the Niners activated running back Tevin Coleman, who had spent the last five games on injured reserve with a knee injury, he wasn’t even able to make it through the first quarter against the Seattle Seahawks.
There was still 5:42 left in the first quarter when Coleman took a handoff to the left side and gained 12 yards. But we saw Coleman got up slowly and hobble to the sideline immediately after the play.
When halftime came, the Niners said Coleman was questionable to return with a knee injury but he was soon ruled out. Coleman’s day was cut, having just three carries for 20 yards.
With Coleman ruled out, the Niners were left with just rookie JaMycal Hasty and veteran Jerick McKinnon available at the running back depth. McKinnon had a heft workload at the beginning of the season, so he has been limited the past few weeks. This left the rookie to get more opportunities. He ended up scoring his first NFL career touchdown in the second quarter.
The Niners were also without starting running back Raheem Mostert and backup Jeff Wilson Jr., who are on injured reserve with high ankle sprains.
