Jordan Chiles confirmed in her Instagram Stories that MyKayla Skinner blocked Simone Biles on Instagram.
Biles had made what seemed to be a sarcastic reference to Skinner in a July 30 Instagram post after Skinner criticized the U.S women’s gymnastics team’s work ethic in a now-deleted YouTube video.
“Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions,” Biles’ Instagram caption read after she and teammates Suni Lee, Chiles, Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera won gold in the team event.
On July 31, Biles said she was “blocked” in a post on X but did not clarify who blocked her.
However, Chiles later confirmed it was Skinner who had blocked Biles.
“When she blocks Simone,” Chiles wrote on her Instagram Story on July 31, with a picture of Skinner’s profile showing she blocked Biles.
The U.S. women’s gymnastics team won a gold medal in the team event on July 30 at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The gold medal was the first for Team USA in the event since 2016.
MyKayla Skinner Said Team USA Gymnastics Lacked ‘Talent & Depth’

“Besides Simone [Biles], I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t like what it used to be,” Skinner said in the now-deleted YouTube video.
The video was saved and reposted on X on July 3.
“I just noticed like, I mean, obviously a lot of girls don’t work as hard. The girls just don’t have the work ethic . . . and it’s hard too because of SafeSport. Coaches can’t get on athletes. They have to be really careful what they say, which in some ways is really good. But at the same time, to get to where you need to be in gymnastics, you do have to be, I feel like, a little aggressive and a little intense,” she said.
Skinner publicly apologized on July 6 for the comments.
“I want to formally apologize to Team USA and to our gymnastic community for my comments during my recent YouTube episodes of the gymnastics Olympic trials,” she wrote in her apology post. “It was not my intention to offend or disrespect any of the athletes or to take away from their hard work. Your hard work and dedication has paid off and I congratulate each and every one of you.”
Suni Lee & Others Weigh In
In a now-deleted comment on Biles’ post, Lee wrote, “Put a finger down if Simone Biles just ended you,” according to the New York Post.
Other athletes, celebrities and fans also weighed in on Biles’ sarcastic post.
Former Team USA Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney commented on the Instagram post, writing, “It doesn’t get more iconic than this.. She f’d around n found out fr. Feels like I need to apologize just to redeem my first name.”
Maroney’s comment recalled what Biles told the media on July 30 when asked about their team name: “F around and find out,” Biles said.
Nastia Liukin, a former Team USA gymnast with five Olympic medals, had a one-word response to Biles’ post: “micdrop.”
Journalist Carole Radziwill commented, “Came here to say if captioning was an Olympic sport you’d get gold. Iconic. 🙌🥇”
