WWE Hell in a Cell 2021: Matches & Predictions

Update: check out our review for WWE Hell in a Cell 2021 right here.

Well, this one comes as a surprise!

WWE usually breaks out its most demonic steel structure once the chilly month of October comes around. But in a strange change of pace, the annual Hell in a Cell event has been pushed all the way up to the middle of the summer. Come June 20, WWE’s most heated feuds will most likely come to their epic conclusion within one of the most dangerous match types in wrestling history. Major championships will be defended, weapons will most likely come into play within the cell, and bodies will most certainly be broken. This year’s Hell in a Cell installment looks to add an extra sense of danger and excitement to the summer season.

So let’s cut all the hype talk and discuss our predicted winners for the 2021 Hell in a Cell event.

Alexa Bliss vs. Shayna Baszler

WWE

Predictions & Winner: Oh God…this horrid feud is getting airtime on this PPV? C’mon, fam. Ever since Alexa Bliss donned the makeup of a Harley Quinn superfan cosplayer, she’s morphed into the very worst part of Monday Night Raw. Her supernatural horse manure and the way it’s been used to further lower Shayna Baszler’s stock is so heartbreaking to watch. Shayna went from breaking arms and taking names in NXT to being thrown in a lame tag team and running scared from a doll on Raw. Why WWE, why?

Bliss has dug her heels too deep into this terrible gimmick change at this point and I think the powers that be are also going to ride this thing until the wheels off (they already fell off at WrestleMania 37, in my opinion). So yeah, Bliss is getting the win here to continue reigning as Raw’s worst act and Shayna’s stock will officially hit rock bottom. Sigh…

Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (WWE Raw Women’s Championship)

WWE

Predictions & Winner: As soon as Asuka ate the final pin during the Triple Threat Match for the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania Backlash, we all knew what was coming next. Based on the fact that Charlotte Flair didn’t get pinned, it became quite evident that she was being set up to get a singles match with the current reigning champion Rhea Ripley. And based on the amazing matchup both women blessed us with back at WrestleMania 36, I know me and a lot of other excited onlookers can’t wait to see this rematch unfold. Rhea is the current queen of the mountain, while Charlotte has it in her to take that spot back in triumphant fashion. Simply put, this clash of the lady titans is going to be a bonafide banger.

I know anytime Charlotte is involved in a title match situation, most folks think she’ll come out on top since she’s always being presented as the most dominant member of both women’s rosters. But in this case, it’s clear to me that Rhea is finally getting the opportunity to overcome the woman that tripped up her promising 2020. It’s clearly the best way to establish Rhea as the new GOAT of the current Raw women’s division and I think WWE wants to right the wrong they committed last year when both women first ran into each other. Losing to Rhea clean won’t really hurt Charlotte’s current high standing in the company, plus Rhea needs that extra push to truly become a force on the main roster. I think Rhea’s getting her ‘Mania 36 win back here in the cleanest way possible.

Bianca Belair (c) vs. Bayley (Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship)

WWE

Predictions & Winner: Fam…what the hell was that segment with the laughing Bayley heads all over the ThunderDome monitors? That moment was tailor-made for October’s whole “nightmare fuel” feel. Anyways, this rematch doesn’t really interest me all that much. I was actually looking forward to their last match at WrestleMania Backlash, but the chemistry between both ladies seemed really off that night. That lackluster performance from the two definitely dulled my excitement for this next go-round between the two. Seeing as how there aren’t a whole lot of other worthy challengers for Bianca’s SmackDown Women’s Championship reign, I can totally see why WWE made the decision to run this one back again.

You don’t need a crystal ball to find out who’s going to win here. The champ’s retaining here because duh, right? There’s no way she’s dropping the title two months into her first reign as SmackDown’s reigning and defending queen of the mountain. I guess Carmella could be next in line at Money in the Bank for Bianca, but that doesn’t exactly get me all that hype either. All I know is this – we better be getting Bianca vs. Sasha Banks Part Two at SummerSlam. IT’S TIME TO RUN THAT ONE BACK, WWE!

Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins

WWE

Predictions & Winner: So we’re getting a runback of two of the best matches from WrestleMania 37 on this PPV. And the first of those is this heated rematch between Cesaro and Seth Rollins. Both of these guys went out on Night One of ‘Mania 37 and brought the returning live crowd to their feet thanks to an outstanding performance. Cesaro got the win there and parlayed it into a Universal Championship opportunity, but he ended up failing in his bid to beat the “Tribal Chief.”

WWE’s resident “Drip King” returned to exact his revenge right after his defeat to reignite this feud and now they’re set to do battle here. Cesaro got the first W, which probably means Rollins will nab the victory here to make it 1-1. This beef will likely carry over into next month, so it’s only right for Rollins to get one over on Cesaro to set up the eventual tiebreaker in the near future.

Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

WWE

Predictions & Winner: And now we’re due for yet another meeting between these two. But that’s not an issue whatsoever – Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have put on amazing matches each and every time I’ve watched them. They damn sure delivered on Night 2 of ‘Mania 37 and I’m quite sure that will be the same case here.

I figured we’d be getting some sort of multi-match matchup featuring these two guys and the rest of the midcard that’s been going at Apollo Crews’ neck lately. But these two need to clash here one-on-one instead. Since Owens got the win at ‘Mania 37, I presume Sami will get his revenge with a victory here. And that will inevitably set up their tie-breaker soon after.

Bobby Lashley (c) (with MVP) vs. Drew McIntyre (Last Chance Hell in a Cell Match for the WWE Championship)

WWE

Predictions & Winner: WE’RE DOING THIS AGAIN? Sigh…WWE can’t help but do yet another matchup between these two. The law of diminishing returns is front and center here. I enjoyed this feud at one point, but it has quickly lost steam due to the overabundance of rematches. It looked as if Kofi Kingston was going to step in to take on Bobby Lashley to present a fresher matchup for this PPV, but that dream scenario just didn’t come to pass. So yeah, Drew McIntyre is getting yet another opportunity to grab the WWE Championship. I’m sure the match will be good (or even great!), but I just don’t care all that much at this point.

My gut’s telling me that this will be Drew’s last chance at regaining the WWE Championship for a very long time. That means this rematch is going to be a lot longer than both men’s previous meetings. The epic nature of it all will clearly come through via the intensity of this one, for sure. But I just can’t see Bobby relinquishing the belt so soon into this strong title run of his. Drew’s going to put up the fight of his life, but it will be all for naught as “The Almighty” retains his WWE Championship over him once again. God, I hope Bobby holds onto the belt until SummerSlam. We all want to see him finally lock horns with a returning Brock Lesnar, right? Exactly! As for Drew, I think it’s time for the powers that be to move the big Scot to Smackdown so he can give Roman Reigns someone new to feud with.
