Back in December, rumors started circulating that Facebook had plans to acquire Microsoft’s Atlas Advertising platform. Facebook said in statement, that buying Atlas would give advertisers the opportunity to track and measure digital ad campaigns. Making the move, would be a way for Facebook to compete against Google’s AdSense.

Facebook made the official announcement this afternoon, that the company bought Microsoft’s Atlas advertising platform. Although the terms haven’t been disclosed, it’s said that Facebook paid less than a $100 million. Microsoft purchased aQuantive, the firm behind Atlas, in 2007 for $6.2 billion.
