Google announced on Tuesday that they’re bringing Google Fiber to Austin, TX, the second city to get the high speed internet service. The Google Fiber TV service allows customers to watch shows in HD, and record up to eight shows at once.
Google launched the service last summer in select neighborhoods including Kansas City, MO.
“It’s a resource that could help make our city even more innovative and make our city even stronger,” said Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell, at a press conference.”
By mid-2014, Google will begin connecting Austin homes with its Google Fiber service. Google called the city of Austin “a mecca for creativity and entrepreneurialism.” Google Fiber’s chief Milo Medin said city officials “worked tireless to convince us to come to Austin.
