3. Samsung Gear Live Goes on Sale at Play Store June 25

The Verge has the rundown on how much Gear Live will cost, and where it can be purchased:

“The Gear Live will be available to preorder from the Google Play Store later today for $199.99, and it’ll be available to buy online and at Best Buy stores beginning July 7th. 4. Samsung Gear Live Has Interesting Specs

Android Authority has some interesting insight into the specs of the Gear Live. They note the following specs from a Spanish tech blog:

“The report mentions a set of specs for the Samsung Gear Live:

Display: 1.63-inch Super AMOLED, 320 x 320 pixels
Processor: 1.2 GHz
RAM: 512 MB
Storage: 4GB
Connectivity: Bluetooth 4.0
Dimensions: 37.9 x 56.4 x 8.9 mm, 59 grams
Battery: 300 mAh
Ingress protection: IP67
Features: heart rate monitor”

The Verge notes:

“The Gear Live looks a lot like the Gear 2, and it even has the same 1.63″ Super AMOLED display, dust and water resistance, and heart-rate sensor (though it’s lacking a camera). Importantly, the Gear Live will be able to work with any Android phone running version 4.3 or higher — not just Samsung phones.”

5. Samsung Gear Live Was Somewhat of a Surprise

Check out some hands-on footage of the Samsung Gear Live in the video above.

The debut of the Samsung Gear Live smartwatch was something of a surprise for many tech insiders. This is due to two factors: the Samsung product was launched at a Google event, rather than at a Samsung “Unpacked” event. Additionally, it was surprising that the device was announced to be on sale the same day as it was unveiled, as most Samsung product launches have a few weeks or even months between live announcement and release date.
