The new Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is like a regular Note phone, but with a bonus “edge” panel that adds some cool functionality. Here’s what you need to know.
1. The ‘Edge’ of the Note Edge Is the Main Selling Point
Get a closer look at this new phone in the video above.
The Note Edge phone is unique because it has an exposed “edge” screen. This part of the screen uses a revolving UX design, which you can customize in a number of ways. You can set up seven scrollable panels to switch between on the edge, or keep your most-used apps on this screen in a column. The edge also lets you quickly access tools like timer, voice recorder, or flashlight.

Some people, like the Twitter user above, dislike the “odd” design of the Galaxy Note Edge. Others, however, are intrigued by the unique look of this phone. Others have noted that the phone might be hard to use for lefties. Here are some of the reactions this phone has been getting on Twitter.

The Note Edge and Note 4 premiered on the same stage mere minutes apart, but they have some key differences. For one thing, the Samsung Gear VR headset will only work with the Note 4, and not with the Note Edge.
The two phones are somewhat different in terms of specs. Via Yahoo, BGR’s Brad Reed has a guide to the differing specs of these two phones. Most notable, the Note 4 weighs two grams more than the Note Edge, and the Note Edge is a tenth of an inch smaller. Additionally, the Note 4 battery is a full 220mAh beefier than the Note Edge.
4. AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, & Sprint Will Carry Note Edge

According to the Verge, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint will all have the Note Edge available for sale. The exact release date for the Note Edge is still up in the air. The Note 4 will be available in October, so perhaps the Edge will be available shortly thereafter.
5. The Note Edge Might Be the Next ‘Galaxy Round’
Check out some Samsung news (and other recent tech news) in the report above.
Gizmodo compares this year’s Note Edge to last year’s “head-scratching” Galaxy Round. The Galaxy Round phone had a curved screen, and had a hard time making an impact in the crowded smartphone marketplace. In a few months, we’ll know whether the Note Edge is the next Round, or the next big thing.
