WATCH: iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus Hands-On Video Review

While the rest of the world has to wait until Sept 19 to get their hands on the iPhone 6, some lucky reviewers got to try out Apple’s new flagship device a bit early. Check out The Verge’s review of the iPhone 6 in the video above.

In their full review of the iPhone 6, The Verge had both complimentary and critical things to note about Apple’s new phone. Overall, however, their assessment of the iPhone 6 was largely good, with the app scoring a 9.0/10 in the review. The Verge wrote:

“Everything is better and nothing is different…Yet there’s nothing truly ambitious here, no grand vision of the future or of a new way of living in the present…The latest iPhones could have been a chance for Apple to really re-examine what smartphone hardware should be, but Apple just built a bigger iPhone. Because that’s what people wanted.

For a variety of reasons, from the camera to the app ecosystem to the hardware itself, the iPhone 6 is one of the best smartphones on the market. Maybe even the best. But it’s still an iPhone. The same thing Apple’s been making for seven years.”

The iPhone 6 starts at $199, and the larger 6 Plus starts at $299. The iPhone 6 comes in three storage options: the 16GB ($199), the 64GB ($299), and the 128GB ($399). The 6 Plus has three options, too: the 16GB ($299), the 64GB ($399), and the 128GB ($499). Prices are, of course, higher if you buy a phone off-contract. If you buy off-contract through T-Mobile, expect to pay at least $649.

Both iPhones have been available to preorder for several days now, with the official release of the iPhone 6 line set for Friday, September 19. iOS 8 will be made available before that date, on September 17. The iPhone 6 line will come with iOS 8, which will include a ton of new features like a new keyboard, Handoff functionality, enhanced Siri functionality, and the ability to send audio messages.

The new iPhones will also work with the Apple Watch, which is scheduled to hit stores early in 2015. The Apple Watch will work with the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, and iPhone 5S. It will start at $349.
