A submerged car with a man inside who had been missing for nine years was visible on Google Maps the whole time. The car was discovered when people working at a Michigan funeral home were on a lift, decorating a Christmas tree, and saw it submerged in a nearby pond, Fox 13 reported. You can still see the image on Google Maps here.
Authorities believe the body inside the car is Davie Lee Niles, who was missing since 2006. They’re waiting DNA and dental confirmation. The car belonged and a wallet inside both belonged to Niles. Foul play is not suspected.
The car was in a pond next to Cook Funeral Home in Byron Township, Michigan. Niles, 72, had disappeared on October 11, 2006, WoodTV.com reported. He had last been seen at Jake’s Bar, where he met a friend and left. He had been dealing with depression and cancer. The pond was just about half a mile from the bar.
