One day in and the Little League World Series is already chock-full of drama. We’ve had home runs, we’ve had strikeouts, we’ve even had no hitters and abbreviated games. Now, we’ve got elimination.
Eight teams take to the field in Williamsport on Saturday afternoon, fighting for their chances to stay in the tournament with the first round of elimination games in 2015. Here’s the full schedule for the slate of games:
Saturday August 22
Game 9: Dominican Republic vs. Australia, 1 p.m. on ESPN
Game 10: Oregon vs. Kentucky, 3 p.m. on ABC
Game 11: Canada vs. Chinese Taipei, 6 p.m. on ESPN
Game 12: Rhode Island vs. Missouri, 8 p.m. on ESPN
Keep an eye out on the Oregon squad, which dropped a 1-0 decision to Pearland West, Texas on Friday. The Northwest Regional winner was held to one hit but had been racking up the runs in previous rounds. Now, keep in mind that these teams are totally done playing even if and when they lose on Saturday afternoon. Their championship dreams will be over but the eliminated teams will play in consolation games, against each other, later on this week as well.
